The irregular personal teacup set themed the Four Divine Beasts, also known as the Four Symbols, consists of the Azure Dragon, White Tiger, Vermilion Bird and Black Tortoise. They originate from the integration of ancient Chinese mythology and astronomy.
The four beasts correspond to the Five Elements and cardinal directions, distinguished by different colors: the Azure Dragon in the east stands for Wood (cyan), the White Tiger in the west stands for Metal (white), the Vermilion Bird in the south stands for Fire (red), and the Black Tortoise in the north stands for Water (black). All four teacups are hand-sculpted from the four matching types of clay.
