壺一分四瓣，前後四瓣以陽線勾勒出花瓣和主葉脈的線條，向上延伸，壺鈕上的花紋像是小荷露角，碧波翻湧的姿態，與《愛蓮說》中的“出淤泥而不染，濯清漣而不妖」相呼應，愈加顯出壺整體的含蓄樸實。由上而下，圈足舉重若輕地將上部穩穩托起；壺的上部留白營造出輕盈的氛圍；以詩鬼李賀《竹》的刻字為主線，壺的重心略偏下，又顯出穩重，又與底部的修竹在懷，幾桿修竹迎風搖曳之景相映成趣，寄寓了老師對高潔脫俗的文人氣節的嚮往，以竹之勁節挺秀，更凸顯竹的可堪大用。
