大紅袍出現於宜興市、袱東鄉西面，在任途村與紅衛村交界處小煤窯礦區所開採的夾層嫩泥。含氧化鐵，收縮比約45%～55%。
大紅袍礦石剛挖出來時是鵝黃色，製作成壺後變色為瑰麗的朱紅色，紅艷奪目，氣質高雅，谷皺周身，色澤效果純正細膩。

Dahongpao appears in the interlayered tender mud mined in the small coal mine area at the junction of Rentu Village and Hongwei Village in Yixing City and the west of Dongdong Township. Containing iron oxide, the shrinkage ratio is about 45% to 55%.
The Dahongpao ore is goose yellow when it is first dug out. After being made into a pot, it changes color to a magnificent vermilion. It is a dazzling red color with an elegant temperament, wrinkled grains all over the body, and a pure and delicate color effect.
